Holt clears 16′7″ to break OTG’s high school facility record
Zack Holt raises the bar at Off The Grid’s Halloween Vault, alongside a first-time competitor and new personal bests across the field.
Zack Holt raised Off The Grid’s high school facility record by 13 inches at Saturday’s Halloween Vault, clearing 16′7″. The previous record belonged to Kantyn Kasich at 15′6″. Kasich was in the field Saturday, too, finishing at 15′1″.
Holt broke the record on his first attempt at 15′7″, then cleared 16′1″ on his second and 16′7″ on his third. He finished with three attempts at 17′1″—just above his personal best of 16′9″.
For Renata Ward, Saturday was her first time competing at any height. The 19-year-old TCU student recently started pole vaulting and cleared 7′7″ in her meet debut. Both of her clearances came on third attempts. She’s already getting acquainted with that part of the sport.
Emma Ensor saved her day twice, clearing 9′7″ on her final attempt before doing it again at 10′1″. That second clearance earned her a new PR and the top mark in the Bronze flight.
Ryder Redding nearly went out at his opener. After two misses at 9′2″, he cleared it and kept jumping—all the way to a two-inch PR at 11′8″, also on his third attempt.
Mason Griggs added a PR of his own at 10′8″. Nicolas Nguyen cleared 12′8″ for a two-inch best, making his final two heights on first attempts. Marlee Ford had the highest women’s clearance at 11′8″.
